Safety is always last for Malaysian!
I'm the least surpsied that many still defy helmet ruling, making the Police to issue them summonses by post.
Safety is always last on Malaysian minds, most of them.
This is further prove that Malaysian education has failed to produce rational and concious mind of Malaysian!

Many still defy helmet ruling Police to issue them summonses by post
BY SIRA HABIBU
MANY motorcyclists in Kedah, especially in the rural areas, openly defy the ruling to wear helmets despite the Transport Ministry’s call for a nationwide blitz to check on such offence.
Irked by such irresponsible behaviour, State Traffic Operations Officer Deputy Supt Syed Salim Jaafar said he had instructed police officers to issue ‘saman ekor’ (summonses sent by post) on those who blatantly ignore wearing helmets.
“These errant motorcyclists are good in doing the disappearing act during road blocks.
“So, instead of setting up roadblocks, we have decided to issue them saman ekor,” he said.
DSP Syed Salim said the police would impose a RM300 maximum compound on offenders.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy had said last week that the authorities were going all out to enforce the ruling.
Chan had expressed concern over the rising number of fatal accidents involving motorcyclists.
A check by The Star at some rural and outskirt areas in Alor Star showed that the offenders were mainly young boys, and elderly men and women.
A pint-sized boy, who hardly looks 16, was seen riding a motorcycle without helmet with a primary school girl riding pillion.
Sights of men wearing kopiah (white cap usually worn by Muslim men) and women wearing tudung (headscarf) riding motorcycles without helmets are common, even on busy stretches.
Only motorcyclists in town areas and city centre seem to wear helmets. Elsewhere, they roam freely without helmets.
