30-year old cellphone robber killed in chase? What drove him to crime?

My heart bleeds reading this news, Cellphone robber killed in chase.

Why?

The robber was employed, he rode a motocycle.... He did have some money before, then..

What drove him to robbing? Emulating Robin Hood?

Lifestyle of today's materialistic world driving him to crime?

Needs to feed a hungry or an ailing family member?

Where's social and community securities in the new age of Malaysia?

Cellphone robber killed in chase

KUALA LUMPUR: Like a scene from a movie, an irate man gave chase and rammed his car into a fleeing motorcyclist who had robbed him of his cellular phone in Cheras here.

The motorcyclist fell off his motorcycle and dropped a parang but then got onto his machine and tried to escape again.

But his luck ran out when he went over a road divider and collided with another motorcycle, before an oncoming car ran over him.

Cheng Kok Choy, a 30-year-old steel factory worker, died on the spot in the Saturday incident.

The 18-year-old rider of the other motorcycle escaped unhurt while the pillion rider, also 18, had minor injuries and was sent to Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia for treatment.

Cheras district CID chief Deputy Supt Tan Ah Chua said the drama unfolded when the motorcyclist threatened the man with a parang and robbed him of his cellphone in Taman Shamelin Perkasa.

He said the 27-year-old robbery victim was detained by traffic police to assist in investigations.

The driver of the car that ran over Cheng has yet to lodge a police report at press time.

Police recovered a handbag containing an undisclosed amount of cash, the identity cards of an 18-year-old girl and another man, from Cheng.

DSP Tan said Cheng had three previous records for theft.

That guy had 3 previous convictions for theft. Hard for a leopard to change its spots.

It is indeed very hard for him. Pity, it's much too late for him to do anything about it!

Fortunately, it's never too late for Malaysians to do something to change for the better.

Thanks for comment and visit! :)
